[Icy-Veins] Overpower Is Getting a Massive Nerf in Diablo 4 Season 9

Blizzard announced many changes coming to the Sins of the Horadrim season, but one of them is a major shift in the overall game. Overpower is getting a giant nerf! 80%?! During the Campfire Chat, the developers explained that Overpower has been very overpowered for a long time now. It generally equaled to around a 1000% multiplicative damage increase and outpaced all other affixes with the proper build. The intent for the affix was originally for tankier specs to be able to get bonus damage from their health and Fortify. However, it became just absolutely better in all cases. The change they are implementing to its base power scaling will equal around 80% less damage for the affix. The damage bonus will still be multiplicative. So if the bonus was at 1000% increase before the changes, it will now be 200%. Here’s the clip from the Campfire Chat. Affix Changes The actual affix is also getting a nerf. The amounts of Overpower on gear will be reduced to be more in line with Critical Damage numbers. So before you could get 200% Overpower damage on an item, with that same item only offering 55% Critical Damage. This will be a lot closer with the new season. Here’s the clip from the Campfire Chat We’ll see if Overpower builds even exist with the new season. Keep in mind these are only PTR changes, so Blizzard may change their minds on the nerfs, or at least reduce them a little based on community feedback.
