He will sell you the ancient wood plank recipe for 500 gold. After that, look for Hodari and purchase the whitestone slab recipe from him for just 300 gold. Once you have these recipes, you can now make both of these resources from their respective work stations. Obviously, this means that the ancient wood planks are made at a sawmill, while whitestone slabs can be made at a smelter. And that is all there is to it, really.
