Why Remove the Capstone Dungeons in the First Place Originally, Capstone Dungeons were added to the game very late during the original development phase, and they were introduced to bridge the gap between World Tiers, acting as a skill check before advancing to harder difficulties. With Vessel of Hatred, they were removed because they just did not fit inside the new World Tier System with the Torment Difficulties. However, after removing them, they realized a lot of players actually enjoyed doing them, and were sad to see them gone. So they took some time to think about a meaningful way to bring them back, and the new Seasonal Rank system felt like the perfect fit! Now Part of Seasonal Progression With Season 11 and the new seasonal ranks, Capstone Dungeons will now serve as a new way to test your strength during your progression through the levels and content. Completing a Capstone will unlock higher seasonal ranks, and Blizzard even hinted at possible rotations or variations in future seasons to keep things exciting. The goal is to make each Capstone feel meaningful rather than just a one-time barrier you rush through. We can maybe expect updated enemy layouts, new affixes, and a better sense of reward because it is tied to your seasonal rank. By bringing Capstones back and confirming their long-term role, Blizzard is showing that they want Diablo 4 to have more meaningful and exciting content, and that is all players are asking for!
