[Icy-Veins] Diablo 4’s Anniversary Event is Literally Just a Gold Shop

#1

Post by NewsBOT »

Diablo 4‘s second anniversary has been live for a few days now, but calling it an event might be a bit generous. Instead of engaging new content, Blizzard has just handed us a glorified shopping list to browse. It’s Not Even an Event There is no anniversary quest, no new monsters, no new objectives, no special encounters, no temporary mechanics… just a menu, in the shop. So it comes as no surprise that players are not shy about calling Blizzard out on it:
  • Reddit’s blunt verdict can be summed up as: it is “not an event, just a giveaway.”
  • Another player described it as “nothing to hunt… just a lazy reliquary to redeem with gold.”
What do you think about the 2nd anniversary events and rewards?
byu/Notmeetsolong indiablo4 Sadly, that perfectly sums it up. An anniversary event should celebrate gameplay, not a gold-spending spree. Rewards You Can Buy Instantly What You Can Buy with Gold:
  • Mount armor
  • Weapon skins
  • Mount trophies
  • (All from the 2nd Anniversary Reliquary tab)
Image All the event’s cosmetics – mount trophies, armor, weapons – cost roughly 140–150k gold. Most players already have more than enough gold saved up, so grabbing these “rewards” takes no effort at all. It honestly feels like Blizzard forgot the “event” part entirely. No challenge, no excitement… You just log in, spend gold, and log out. Players Are Not Impressed The Diablo community is openly disappointed about this anniversary event:
  • “I finished the ‘event’ in 2 minutes,” one Redditor wrote. “I just logged in, bought everything, and logged out.”
  • There are also comments such as: “WORST anniversary event of all time…not even some goblins.”
WORST anniversary event of all time
byu/Puzzleheaded-Tea5446 indiablo4 And honestly? This is not an overreaction, this is probably just what we all felt upon logging in. Clearly, Diablo fans were hoping for something a bit more substantial. Roadmap Promises Were Thin, Events Even Thinner Blizzard’s previous Roadmap reveal left most of us fans unimpressed, as it was already rather clear that there would be minimal innovation for Season 9, with not a lot of info on what is to come after. Now, this “anniversary event” feels like a confirmation of fans’ worst fears; no new content, just more ways to funnel players into Reliquary and cosmetics.
  • Players are calling out how little effort Blizzard seems to be putting into Diablo 4 lately, especially with how bland most seasonal content has been. The recurring theme of “borrowed power” is a big topic.
  • Long-requested features are still missing, like loot filters and basic UI fixes.
  • On the bright side, some players take it with a bit more humor, as one put it: “Next year’s anniversary event might just be a JPEG cake at this point.”
Mother’s Blessing: Nice, but Nothing New The Mother’s Blessing buff (+35% XP and +50% gold) is back again. Sure, it is helpful, especially for leveling alts or hoarding gold, but it does not solve the event’s fundamental boredom. If you missed our previous post on what this buff offers, check it out here. Image Blizzard, next time, please give us an actual reason to play, not just another shopping spree. An anniversary should celebrate gameplay, not push players closer to burnout or the exit.
