[Icy-Veins] Improved Season 9 PTR Rune Drop Rate Numbers

Post by NewsBOT »

Players have been poking around the currently active Sins of the Horadrim PTR and one player really poked Belial a whole lot! A Big Improvement, but Is it Enough? While we’ve seen Blizzard mention an overall rune drop buff and Lair Bosses having increased changes for Legendary runes, the numbers weren’t clear. Well, as of the PTR, they now are. Deidarac5 went poking Belial a breezy 100 times to see just how the rune drop rates worked. The “big” Lair Bosses, aka Belial, Duriel, and Andariel seem to have a 100% chance at dropping a rune, and a small chance at a second one on top. The other Lair bosses are around 50% for a rune. PTR: Drop rate of Runes after 100 Uber Belial Kills.
byu/Deidarac5 indiablo4 The actual number of runes after those 100 runs came out to 9 legendary, 39 Rare, and 51 Magic runes. After upgrading all of them, this was the result: Image That’s 12 Legendary, 21 Rare, and 12 Magic. Now obviously there a lot of RNG in those conversions, so the results will vary a lot. You also have to consider that to get to those 100 Belial runs you’d have to do a lot of lower tier Lair Bosses, so the actual total of runes would be quite a bit higher in the end. While this is a lot more than we’re currently getting, it still may be a little short for those wanting to craft a specific Mythic Unique. But with trading, it should be possible to swap those Legendary runes out for ones you need, so we’ll have to wait and see if Blizzard keeps these numbers as they are or change them more post-PTR.
