The Alters will require you to find and start mining Minerals as part of the story in Act 1. These resources are key to survival, as they allow you to craft many useful things for Jan and all his Alters. The tricky part, of course, is finding the deposit itself. But that’s what we’re here to help you with, just continue reading for all the details! Where To Find Minerals In Act 1 | The Alters You can find Minerals in Act 1 shortly after you find the vantage point as part of the main story. To start, however, we recommend making sure to follow these preparations:

• Try to start going to the Minerals Deposit as soon as the day starts.
• Bring at least 2 Vertara Drills, you need to use them to break rocks that block the path to the deposit.
• Make sure your suit is at full energy, or at least close to it.
• Have enough resources to place at least 4 Pylons and have 1 Mining Outpost ready.

With those preparations ready, you want to go to the spot marked on the map above. As we mentioned before, you can start getting there by simply going further southeast from where the vantage point was before. For reference, we’re treating the base’s location as north on the map, if you rotate it. Do be warned, there are many anomalies along the way. Be careful and avoid them as much as possible! Keep your eyes peeled for them as you walk through the area. Eventually, you’ll reach an area that looks like it’s made out of magma, due to the bright yellow cracks on the blackened dirt. When you get there, just use your Polygonal Scanner to find the ideal spot to put down the Mining Outpost. After that, just use Pylons to connect the outpost to your base. It works the same as all the other deposits you’ve already had to claim by now. That’s all you need to know to start mining for Minerals during Act 1 of The Alters.
